| About Welcome to Accelerator, a programme of professional development opportunities for visual artists in the East Midlands. Accelerator aims to support the flourishing visual arts scene within the region by incorporating artists in shaping and delivering the programme. Accelerator is an Angel Row Gallery initiative, supported by Nottingham City Council and Arts Council England. In 2005, Angel Row Gallery commissioned Nottingham-based artist S Mark Gubb to carry out a piece of research into the professional development needs of practicing artists. Bearing in mind the range of opportunities that already exist in the region, he asked artists what kind of activities Angel Row Gallery could organise to support them. Of the many suggestions made during Gubb’s discussions, three key issues emerged; artists would like: -Critical feedback about their work -The opportunity to network, both formally and informally -A simple and effective way to share information about up and coming events across the region.
